October Newsletter - sorry I forgot to post! This is LAST month's if you need to catch up.

NEWS on the McKnight house:
If you haven’t heard the news, we will be moving into the McNight house (hopefully) by January. Mark is having discussions with Corey and Nate to finalize some plans.  We might not be able to do ALL the work this fall, but will do things as we are able on the upgrades to the house. Here’s the building if you haven’t seen it.
October classes: Oct 3 will be open studio due to fall break. Then, On Oct 10 and 17, Beth Moore will be with us again as we experiment with encaustic, which is painting with melted wax. Here is her info:Materials fee is $5 for this class! All materials are included, but you are welcome to bring any 3D elements, ephemera, etc. that you would like to include in your work, as well as any kind of surface.
Surfaces will be provided (8"x10" Masonite board) but you can work on any surface that is durable enough to hold the wax (such as any kind of wood, shelving, canvas, or get creative!).
If you choose to bring your own images for TRANSFERS, you will need Laser jet, NOT Inkjet copies (the toner from the Laser jet is what transfers). Any images you bring for collage or transfer will not be returned, so be sure you have copies.

Since this is a 2 week workshop, we will be building on our skills each week.

Week 1: Melting wax, safety, heat guns, dripping, collage.
Week 2: Image transfers and 3D collage
You many also buy your own personal supplies from R&F Encaustic Supplies or Encaustikos.
Moxie! Art Supply also carries many quality encaustic art supplies right here in town!
PLEASE RSVP for this class, so we can get materials prepared!suzanne.lebeau@att.net.

Greenway Arts Festival Thank you to everyone who helped with this event. Even though it rained heavily in the afternoon, we made about $125 for the booth.
Girl Scout Lock-in was a lot of fun, but hard work. Thank you to Gloria and Reba, who gave up Sat night (til 1 am!!) to help the girls paint banners. We had about 160 girls!

Multiple shows going on

I have been blessed lately with my works. I currently and/or soon will have nearly 60 of my paintings and photos on display. My plein air works from my recent camping trip are on display for about 1 1/2 weeks at Cultivate Co-working in Murfreesboro. (If you don't know what co-working is, stop by and ask Gretchen)

In addition, I always try to have some works up at the Murfreesboro Art League. I don't have a photo of the current group up there, however. I have several of my up-cycled works at a boutique in Berry Hill at the Smart Supplies location.
I also have some of my florals and abstracts (non-representational) at Springhouse Worship and Arts Center in Smyrna. They have amazing plays there, like the upcoming "Oklahoma." I have season tickets because the acting is so good!

Plein air camping trip this summer

I have been so busy this summer. I went on a 3 1/2 week camping and painting trip from TN, through LA and TX and on to CA. I wanted to prove that a 50something woman could do something like that alone. It was a wonderful experience, and I got many beautiful photos and paintings out of it. Here are some of the paintings from that trip. I have since touched up the skies and parts that were messed up while travelling, but this gives the general idea.
